Different Ways To Heal Injuries

And for an active person or a player, it can be really frustrating to fall victim to any kind of injury, no matter how minor or serious it is. But the truth is, anyone can suffer from injuries, especially during sports and workouts.

Whenever someone gets injured, their body starts the process of healing by stimulating the immune system and initiating a complex chain of reactions. Then special immune cells rush to the site of injury and isolate the affected zone in order to begin the process. Also, healthy cells around the area use additional oxygen and energy to rebuild damaged tissues by becoming more active. And for this to work, you will need proper nutrition and other treatments. So, look at a few ways that can help you to heal your injury.

Measures You Can Take To Heal Your Injury

Injuries where you might suffer from soft tissue damages such as a muscle strain, a sprain, or a tear in the muscle, then you need immediate first aid to prevent further complications. This will also help the pain to wear off, and help to heal faster. One such thing that can help you to start the recovering process, and also help to recover quicker is the RICE therapy. RICE Therapy

Rest

The first step of the process is getting rest. Whenever you suffer from an injury, it is a must that you stop all of your activities immediately, and be on rest for as much as possible for the first couple of days. Also, avoid putting any kind of weight on your injured area for 24 to 48 hours. This stage will help you to prevent any further bruising and other complications.

Ice

The next step is applying an ice pack to the injured area. Cover the ice pack with a light and absorbent towel for 15 to 20 minutes, and try to apply the ice every 2-3 hours during the first couple of days of being injured. Applying ice to your injured area helps you to reduce your pain and swelling. If you don’t have an ice pack at your home or your place of work, then you can use a bag of frozen peas or corn, which will also do the trick.

Compression

In this third step, wrap the injured area with an elastic medical bandage to prevent swelling. The wrapping will have to be a bit snug, but not too tight so that it won’t interrupt the blood flow in the injured area. You will need to loosen the bandage if your skin below the bandage turns blue or feels cold, tingly, or numb.

Elevation

Then in the last part of this process, you’ll need to raise the injured body part above the level of your heart. It will reduce pain, swelling, and throbbing. You can use a pillow to do this elevation. You need to keep your injured area raised whenever it seems possible.

The objective of immediate rice therapy is to control initial inflammation and also start the healing process early. As in the initial phase of an injury, there is redness, swelling, and warmth that causes immense pain, the applying ice or cold therapy part helps to alleviate that. And the compression with a soft bandage limits the swelling. And the elevating part is especially important for up to 2 or 3 days, as it reduces further swelling due to gravity.
