Know all about TANCET including Eligibility & Selection Process

TANCET or Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test is conducted by the Anna University located in Chennai on behalf of Tamil Nadu Government. Candidates who aspire to pursue MBA (Masters of Business Administration), MCA (Master of Computer Application), M.E (Master of Engineering), M. Tech (Master of Technology), M. Arch (Master of Architecture) and M. Plan (Master of Planning) can apply for the said programmes by appearing for the TANCET 2019. The degrees are offered by the following educational bodies: University Colleges of Engineering , University Departments, Regional Campuses of Anna University, Government and Government Aided Colleges (Engineering, Arts & Science Colleges), Annamalai University, and Self-financing Colleges (Engineering, Arts & Science Colleges including stand-alone Institutions) in the state of Tamil Nadu, India.

The process- Candidates will have to first go through the TANCET Registration process online, the application forms for the TANCET registration has already been released on the official website of the Anna University. After successful completion of the registration, it is recommended to keep tabs on the TANCET Exam Dates. After which, the candidates will have to get the TANCET admit card and appear for the examinations on the specified centres as allotted by the university. Once the examination is completed, the TANCET result shall be released on the tentative dates.

The TANCET registration is conducted online and shall begin on the 8th of May, 2019. The last date of applying for the examination is the 25th of May, 2019. After the registration process is completed, the TANCET admit card is speculated to release by the first week of June, 2019. 

The TANCET exam dates have been released by the authorities, please go through the dates thoroughly and precisely to avoid confusion:

For MCA – 22nd of June, 2019 

Time- 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

For MBA – 22nd of June, 2019 

Time- 2:30 PM – 4:30 PM

For M. Tech. / M. Arch. / M.E. / M. Plan. – 23rd of June, 2019 

Time- 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

 

The TANCET result is tentatively to be declared on the 5th of July, 2019. After the declaration of the TANCET result for the year 2019, the counselling of candidates is likely to begin from the 8th of July, 2019.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERION- Every candidate applying for the TANCET exams must fulfil the eligibility criteria as stated by the university that varies in academics, domicile and percentage. 

Academic criterion for TANCET 2019: 

Candidates who are graduates or applying in the final year of their graduation may apply. Also, candidates who have passed their 10+2 or has a 10+3 diploma degree from the State Board of Technical Education is legible to apply.

Please note that candidates with a valid GATE score with marks for qualifying in Engineering Science or XE and Life Science or XL, may not need to appear for the TANCET EXAMINATION held by Anna University.

Domicile Criterion for TANCET 2019:

Apart from the candidates belonging to the state of Tamil Nadu who belong to the various states of India can apply for the examination. The eligibility of the candidate for the same shall be determined by the respective authorities governing the examination and admission process.

Percentage required for TANCET 2019:

The pass percentage of the candidate shall determine heir eligibility for applying for TANCET 2019. Candidates belonging to the General or OBS caste with a minimum 50% and candidates belonging to the SC/ST caste with a minimum of 45% can apply for the examination.

The application fee for TANCET 2019:

The application fee for the examination depend on the candidate’s caste category they belong to.

Candidates belonging to category UR- INR 500

Candidates belonging to SC/ST/SCA from Tamil Nadu- INR 250

The application fee charged for more than one programme also depend on the candidate’s caste category they belong to.

This all you will need to keep in mind to go ahead with your TANCET examinations. Do go through the syllabus thoroughly and work hard to clear the cut-off for Open category 37.5, for backward class 35.25, for scheduled class 25.5 and for scheduled tribe it is 22.5.
